International Registration for the 2019 TOTAL Great Ethiopian Run opened on 6th June. 45,000 participants are expected to take part in this year’s race on Sunday 17th November, often referred to as Ethiopia’s biggest street party.

Poet, performer playwright, artist and broadcaster Lemn Sissay MBE has been awarded the PEN Pinter Prize 2019. Lemn will receive the award at a public ceremony at the British Library on 10th October, where he will deliver an address. His memoir, My Name is Why, will be published in August.

The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has announced that it has started offering interest-free mortgage loans to non-resident Ethiopians, and foreign nationals of Ethiopian origin. The loan is meant to be used for the purchase or construction of residential homes and is expected to be repaid in 20 years.
