Tax and Duty-Free Services for Returning Citizens

Ethiopians or individuals of Ethiopian descent returning from abroad must meet the following requirements to import non-commercial personal items duty-free and household vehicles subject to duty:

• Complete the application form provided by the embassy.
• Submit a detailed list of personal items to be imported.
• Provide the commercial invoice for the vehicle purchase.
• If the vehicle is purchased outside the UK, the commercial invoice must be legalized by the Ethiopian mission in the country of purchase.
• Submit a copy of a valid Ethiopian passport or
• Present a travel document or Laissez-Passer issued by the embassy.
• Provide official proof of cancellation of the British residence permit or ID.

Note: Upon receipt of these documents, a letter of support will be issued to the Ethiopian Customs Commission.
